Rock Creek Sanctuary is stocked with beautiful objects carefully crafted by talented artists in Washington, DC and beyond. Learn more about some of the people behind the goods:
Cooper River Ceramics – Creamy white ‘salt and pepper’ pottery bowl in kitchen. Handmade by Robert in our very own Mount Pleasant, Washington, DC. (Follow @cooperriverceramics.)
Goose and Willow – Fox dish towel in kitchen. Hand-painted artwork by US military veteran artists, based locally in DC and VA. (Follow @goose.and.willow.)
Marcella Kriebel Art + Illustration – Framed plant illustrations in the kitchen. Marcella Kriebel is an artist and author with a background in cultural anthropology who illustrates everything from sunflowers to salmon in vibrant watercolors. She splits her time between Washington, DC and the Columbia River Gorgeāa special place that has become a haven for our family, so it was only fitting we showcase her work of plants from our various ‘homes.’ While you’re in DC, visit her studio and take home a piece for yourself! Studio #14 on The Brookland Arts Walk, open Studio Fridays from 1-5pm and Saturday 9-3pm. (Follow @marcellakriebel.)
Roza Candles – Blue cement soy candle in main living space. Handmade by the Hudak family in Jeannie Rose’s hometown of Prosser, WA. The Roza is an agricultural area north of Prosser, where Jeanie Rose grew up, full of the hops, vineyards and fruit that provide a bountiful harvest of the famed Washington apples (and more) + world-renowned wines. (Follow @therozacandles.)
